One of my favorite things is to watch back yard birds fill up our bird feeders. One of the best to use is this hanging bird feeder, which sells at Ace Hardware and Pikes for over $10, but is also at the Family Dollar for $3 only.
The best trick to use this feeder is to throw a long rope over a high tre branch, and suspend the feeder 15 feet or more in the air. This makes it completley squirrel-proof.
Birds love it, and will take turns waiting on the tree to sit and eat - it's almost never empty. We have seen finches, sparrows, robins, cardinals, and my personal favorite, lots of woodpeckers on the feeder. On a cold day, you can expect the feeder to be totally emptied by the next morning!
I would definelty recommend this kind of bird feeder to any avid bird watcher!
